Second Chiropractic Opinion (return to top of page) When should I get another Chiropractic opinion?
Doctors expect (and many managed care plans require) their patients to seek other opinions. Don't worry about hurting the doctor's feelings when you ask for one. Consultation Services (Physician's only) (return to top of page) Information needed to refer a patient: To facilitate a referral, please be prepared to provide the following information when you call:
Weight Loss Program (return to top of page) The best way to reach a healthy weight is to follow my sensible eating plan and engage in regular physical activity. My Weight-loss program encourages healthy behaviors that help you lose weight and that you can maintain over time. My safe and effective weight-loss program includes:
Nutritional Counseling (return to top of page) My Nutritional Counseling Session will provide you with specific information that is tailored to your individualized wellness needs. This will help you to understand which foods, vitamins, herbs, and health practices can contribute to optimal health and longevity. Pre-Sports Physical Examination (Students) (return to top of page) My sports physical is a medical exam and history designed to assess fitness for the chosen sport. The main goals of my sports physical are to:
Power Massage (return to top of page) Our office uses a G5-GK3 Power Massager which has the power to stimulate circulation deep within muscles, which in turn stimulates cell metabolism by flushing out persistent metabolic by-products such as lactic acid. By improving localized circulation, it promotes edema drainage (the fluid that causes joints to swell), reduces pain caused by lactic acid build-up in the muscles, and promotes healing by stimulation the flow of nutrients to injured tissues. Its powerful motor, variable speed control and wide selection of use-specific applicators make it the most versatile massager available. Many professional athletes, sports teams and trainers rely on it. Hand Massage (return to top of page)
Used for thousands of years as a simple,
effective method of attaining and maintaining good health. Massage is the
manipulation of connective tissue to enhance healing, health and wellness
and relax the mind and body. Our certified massage therapist uses different
stroking and pressure techniques to help relax muscles and relieve painful,
tense areas in the limbs, neck and back.
Ultrasound (return to top of page) Ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves (not within the range we can hear) to stimulate the deep tissues within the body. By passing an ultrasound probe over the body, deep tissues are stimulated by the vibration of the sound wave. This leads to warming and increased blood flow to these tissues. Ice and Heat Therapy (return to top of page) Ice and heat are useful to warm up and cool off muscles. In addition, these modalities can stimulate blood flow and decrease swelling. These can be important aspects of the therapeutic process. Myofascial Release Therapy (return to top of page) Myofascial release therapy is based on the idea that poor posture, physical injury, illness, and emotional stress can throw the body out of alignment and cause it's intricate web of fascia to become taut and constricted. Because fascia link every organ and tissue in the body with every other part, the skillful and dexterous use of the hands is said to free up, or "release," disruptions in this fascial network. Pressure on the bones, muscles, joints, and nerves is relieved in the process, and balance is restored. Baps Board (return to top of page) Used for re-educating muscles, stretch and strengthen muscles, proprioception, increase blood flow and nutrients to an injury, rehabilitate ankle and leg, prevent injury, and balance training. Paraffin Therapy (return to top of page) Paraffin therapy is one of the most effective methods of applying deep heat to relieve pain and stiffness.
Electrical Muscle Stimulation (return to top of page) The method is a complement to other physiotherapy measures and should always be combined with active training of mobility, strength, coordination, and functional training. Electrical muscle stimulation may lead to faster progress in the patient's treatment program. Electrical Muscle Stimulation also provides: muscle reeducation, muscle training, slowing of muscle wasting from inactivity, retaining muscle strength during the immobilization phase, preventing postoperative muscle weakness, reduction of spasticity i.e. involuntary muscle spasm Improving circulation, and specific nerve stimulation. Digi Flex (return to top of page) Consists of five handheld units to expedite the healing of hand injuries with graduated resistances. This allows measurement of initial strength and patient progress. Spring-loaded buttons allow the patient to strengthen and flex each finger. Increases hand, wrist and forearm strength. Neuromuscular Reeducation (return to top of page) Neuromuscular reeducation creates new pathways for the muscles and joints thereby increasing mobility and promoting pain free, healthy tissues. It is used as an adjunct to other therapies for acute and chronic pain conditions. It is used, at times, to correct the cause of a painful condition caused by clear biomechanical and postural factors. Intracell therapy (return to top of page) The Intracell therapy provides myofascial release and trigger point therapy by segmentally elongating muscle bundles. Because of it's unique design qualities, the Intracell Stick can simultaneously release multiple lesions in minimal time with virtually no physical effort very helpful for Myofascial Pain Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. Theracane therapy (return to top of page) Applies pain-relieving deep compression directly to hard, knotted "trigger points" anywhere they occur - breaking up tension even in the hardest-to-reach muscles between your shoulder blades. If you have limited strength or mobility, this helps both the practitioner and the patient locate the most painful areas in the muscle,
